"Transforming Education Through Technology"

The Initiative - This Initiative is an activity of The Distributive and Distance Learning Committee (DDL) at Mission College. The DDL Committee "The DDL supports, encourages, and promotes the development of entire online degrees, certificates and programs." (1)

Guiding Principles - This Initiative (hereafter "IDHOP") shall assist faculty in the development of their online and hybrid classes with the goal in mind of developing entire programs, certificates and degrees which will benefit our students at Mission College.

Overview - IDHOP will work with faculty to develop a Plan A - Plan B - CSU Requirements, and IGETC Requirments for AA Degrees, and Transfer to the CSU and UC Colleges, along with Business, Law, Administration of Justice, and with other interested facutly in developing complete online certificates and programs.

Resources - IDHOP will collaborate with other College grants, intitiatives, such as our Title 5 - Math Grant, and will seek federal and private funding to support this initiative.

Scope of Activities - IDHOP will collaborate and assist with the development of the following:

  • Distance Learning Office to coordinate online and hybrid classes
  • A new college portal - "online.lamission.edu" - dedicated to online and hybrid education
  • A Center for Excellence in Teaching - aimed at working with faculty "one on one" - to infuse technology into the classroom
  • A Marketing Program to promote our onine and hybrid classes
  • Evaluation, Assessment on online classes and faculty and online-surveys - student and faculty satisfaction
